Our Standard Harness is the ultimate traditional pulling harness!
This harness is made out of durable Howling Dog exclusive webbing in an x-back style. The harness features a slick, non-abrasive closed-cell padding around the neck and the chest. The webbing offers an attractive look. The Standard Harness features a double-wide breastplate and it is an ideal harness for petty much any breed.

Measurement "A": The circumference of the dog’s neck from an inch or so above the shoulder blades to an inch or so above the breastbone and back
Measurement "B": From in between the shoulders to the end of the body
Not sure about the size? Go by the weight of your dog.
S: A 18-19 inches, B 20 inches (30 - 40 lbs.)
M: A 20 inches, B 21 inches (41 - 50 lbs.)
L: A 21 inches, B 23 inches (51 - 65 lbs.)
XL: A 22 inches, B 24 inches (65 - 75 lbs.)
XXL: A 23-25 inches, B 26 inches (76 - 90 lbs.)
XXXL: A 26-28, B 27-28 inches (90+ lbs.)
Love this harness! The large fit my husky-shepherd perfectly and works great with our kicksled. The reflective thread also lights up under a headlamp so feels very safe and visible when we're out in the dark.
Excellent material, but no adjustments. You're out of luck if it doesn'tfit.
Dawn, you might not be aware, but an X-back style harness designed for sled dogs never features adjustment points. Any adjustment point becomes a weak link in the performance of the harness, especially for hard-pulling dogs. If your dog is an intermittent puller or if you are starting in the sport, take a look at our shother harnesses, such as the Distance Harness or the Second Skin Harness. All our shorter harnesses feature an adjustable body strap.
I use Howling Dog Alaska for recreational mushing with sled and bicycle. I'm loving the fine construction and complimenting looks of the Standard Harness. My lazy girl Siberian/Malamute is not. It's OK though, she's a cheerleader for my working boy (who actually pulls!) and I. The size chart is a fine tool, and gets you close if not dead on. Every pup is different though, luckily it only took a trial sizing on the boy with my first order before knowing for sure how to fit my girl.
I loved the ruggedness of this harness. The customer service was amazing and Ami quickly gave me the direction that I needed for correct sizing.
I was so pleased with this harness. It arrived quickly and had a beautiful pattern that I wasn’t expecting- but I love. So much better than just plain blue. And the measurements I used on the website worked and the harness fits my dog great. I will definitely purchase from them again.
